Description
An authentic Japanese tool hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo, the bamboo whisk or chasen features dozens of fine, flexible tines designed to blend matcha powder and water seamlessly. Unlike metal spoons that leave clumps or electric frothers that can be too harsh, this traditional whisk effortlessly dissolves fine powder, aerates the tea to create a rich, silky micro-foam that softens bitterness.
How to use
Soften: Before your first mix, dip the tines into warm water for 1–2 minutes. This softens the bamboo, making it flexible and less prone to snapping.
The "W" or "Z" Motion: Hold the whisk from the handle and use your wrist to vigorously whisk the matcha in a quick W or Z pattern rather than a circular motion.
Finish: Whisk for about 20–30 seconds until a fine, thick froth forms on top.
Cleaning & Storage
Rinse Immediately: Never use soap and never put it in the dishwasher. Simply run the tines under warm water or whisk it in a clean bowl of hot water until clean.
Air Dry Tines-Down: Place the whisk down on its handle, or ideally, rest it on a whisk holder to preserve its curved shape.
Avoid the Case: Never store a damp whisk back in its original packaging, this traps moisture and can cause mold.
